Efficiency Nova Scotia REBATE:
Efficiency Nova Scotia offers incentives to make solar power more affordable than ever. The SolarHomes program helps Nova Scotians harness the sun’s energy by offering rebates on an approved solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Homeowners have more choices and more control over their energy future, while reducing carbon emissions, and improving air quality.

This solar program is funded by the Government of Canada’s $56 million-dollar commitment to Nova Scotia from the Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund. Efficiency Nova Scotia is administering the program for the province.

Nova Scotia Power NET METERING.
Nova Scotia’s Enhanced Net Metering Program, enables you to generate your own electricity while still being able to draw from the power grid when needed.

Nova Scotia Power customers can install solar panels to help power their home or business. If you produce more energy than you use at any one time, the unused electricity will flow onto the local grid for others to use. If you generate more electricity than you can use, these surplus kilowatt-hours (kWh) will be “banked” and applied to your next bill to offset any electricity drawn from the grid.

Your renewable energy generator will be sized to meet, but not exceed your expected yearly electricity consumption up to a nameplate capacity of 100 kW*.

REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

Simply put, the term ‘carbon footprint’ is used to describe the total amount of greenhouse gases that are produced and released into the atmosphere to support your individual lifestyle.

Carbon emissions are produced during the burning of fossil fuels which are often used as the main source of producing electricity. Electricity consumption is rising year after year, due to greater reliance on technology in our everyday lives, which means our carbon footprints are also increasing.

Using solar panels to harness energy from the sun is a great way to make the switch to green electricity.

Solar energy is a naturally occurring, renewable energy source, which is why more and more people are choosing to invest in solar panels to power their homes. It’s classed as green energy because zero emissions are released when converting it into electricity.

Residential solar PV systems are capable of meeting a household’s electricity consumption entirely and result in 80% lower carbon emissions than fossil fuels.

INCREASE THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME

Installing Solar panels can significantly increase the value of your home.

The amount of value that a solar panel system can add to your home depends on a number of factors including:

  1. Location – Installations in more active solar markets can get you a higher return on your investment than the same installation in a less developed market.

  2. System Productivity – Your property value’s increase is directly related to the system output which is determined by the number and quality of solar panels you have installed.

There are two kinds of value that a solar system can add to your home: investment value and consumption value.

Investment Value
Investment value is the actual monetary value it adds, increasing the sale price of your home.

Consumption Value
Consumption value refers to the environmental benefits of having an environmentally friendly energy source.

Traditional electricity prices are rising. As these prices increase, the advantages that come with having a solar system in your home rise with it. And unlike other additions to your home, solar panels add value to your home from day one.
